Transforming depression into euphoria via drama

“I was depressed and I knew I needed to change my life. I had tried to kill myself and I knew I needed to find something to motivate myself. I was in a vulnerable environment at home and I needed ways to engage with others and surround myself with different people, away from my family. I had done drama before, but at acta it was different. The one session a week made it easier and less stressful than everyday rehearsals. We were able to create our own show and our characters so by the time we performed I was filled with overwhelming confidence. After finishing the show I felt euphoric. I had never felt like that before.” Tom aged 22
