Making life fairer for local young people

“One young boy, who started to come to the sessions around half way through the holidays would come to get food at least three times a session. He was clearly very hungry and we were able to provide healthy nourishing food for him, which he appeared not to be getting at home” says Baggator who’ve received several grants through us including a grant last year to set up a Monday club for young people in Easton.

For many local school children, the school holidays are a time of relaxation, fun and family. But across Bristol, where nearly 30% of children live in poverty, parents are put under immense pressure as time and finances are squeezed resulting in further stress and deprivation for all the family. In some parts of the city such as Lawrence Hill where nearly 50% of children live in poverty, the lack of free school meals means families are struggling to provide the most basic three meals a day.

Thanks to our supporters we’re able to offer grants to nearly a thousand projects each year working to make life fairer in the West of England, anything from local food banks feeding families in crisis to projects offering local young people much-needed sport, drama and creative opportunities they’d otherwise miss out on.

We’re infinitely grateful to our Sponsors:
